I love making homemade meatballs. They’re a real crowd pleaser and incredibly easy, plus super versatile depending on the mood you’re in.
Try a different spice blend, or add a tonne of freshly chopped herbs (oregano / basil / parsley / mint / coriander / sage / chives), garlic, ginger, curry paste, hoisin sauce, sweet chilli or the zest of limes or lemons.
Ingredients: Makes about 20 meatballs.
500g beef mince (or lamb!)
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 cup fine breadcrumbs
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1/3 cup sweet chilli sauce
Combine the mince, eggs, soy sauce, breadcrumbs, garlic and onion in a large bowl and mix until well combined.
Roll spoonfuls of the meat mixture into meatballs.
Heat a large frypan over a medium-high heat with a good drizzle of olive oil. When the pan is hot, add the meatballs and cook for 5-6 minutes, or until golden brown. Add the sweet chilli sauce and turn to coat. Reduce the heat to medium and cook for a further 8-10 minutes, until the meatballs are cooked on the inside.
