I hope you all had a good weekend.

I have some exciting news. Can you guess….?

I am now engaged!!!

After four wonderful years together, my boyfriend Michael proposed to me on Sunday 🙂

We are both very happy and excited to start our life together and I’m very happy to share my news with all you guys 🙂

Mike took me on a picnic to Cumberland State Forest yesterday.

He picked the date because it had been exactly four years since we spoke/met for the first time. We had a yummy lunch (since this is a food blog, I feel obliged to share with you that it consisted of turkey sandwiches, grapes, red cordial, lol, and some brownies – post to come!) and then took a bushwalk. I have to admit I was a little bit confused because Mike didn’t tell me where we were going, or why, or if he knew where we were even going. Plus it was getting really hot and I was seriously wrongly dressed for bushwalking (slippery sandals, long jeans and two layers – and it was getting hot.) But he just wanted to, so I went along with it.

Finally in the middle of the bush, we found somewhere to sit and he told me-

how much he had loved our relationship for the last four years and how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. He said a few more things too, but I don’t want to get TOO mushy on you guys 😉

Our engagement spot!

I tell you.. the man pulled out the romantic stops 😉 Then he gave me a kiss and out of the corner of my eye, I saw him reach to his pocket…

And well, you can guess what he pulled out. A very pretty engagement ring!! Which by the way I looooved. I had dropped a couple of hints (ok a couple of HUGE hints, I fail at keeping any secrets with Mike) about how much I loooved pink Argyle diamonds. I love them for several reasons, 1) they’re Australian – which eliminates any chance of them being conflict diamonds, and hey, there’s a little bit of patriotism thrown in there too, 2) they’re PINK! so pretty!!! 3) apparently they’re becoming extremely rare since you can actually only get them from one mine out of anywhere in the whole world! Anyway, Mike spoiled me sooo much with my dream ring 🙂 love it!

Right before he proposed!

Happy Christine!

So as to the answer that a lot of people have been asking, as to whether it was a big surprise or whether I had been expecting it..?
Its kind of true in both ways. We had been together for quite awhile so I was really hoping we would get engaged, but I honestly was not expecting it for possibly another six months to another year. Plus Mike had been quite secretive and would not give ANYTHING away. He’s soo good at keeping secrets..  I had actually been thinking about moving out of home because I wasn’t sure when we were going to live together.. but I guess I have my answer now 🙂 He actually told me he had had the ring for quite some time now, but a few reasons made him want to propose later. Honestly I’m glad that he did, because I’ve never felt more ready than I am now 🙂

Thanks for letting me share my special engagement story with you!

from a very happily engaged Christine 🙂
