This was super-delicious!
It is really enjoyable to get great new inspiration for dishes and also straightforward approaches to fix them. My husband and I made this dish for our the evening meal last saturday. One and all loved it, I will be preparing it regularly now.
Your post has reminded me of the deliciousness of Japan and makes me want to return immediately.
Not sure I’ve ever had Green Tea Mochi and I somehow completely missed out on the Japanese curry. All the more reason to go back!
So your a Soup Slerper hey!!
I love Chicken Ramen Soup also widely available and I have also tried it in Taipei,Beijing,Shanghai,Guangzhou,Hong Kong,Singapore and Macau! But I also Love Japanese Curry …But how can you beat “The Spiral Staircase” in Narita ….all you can eat Gyoza,Chicken Teriyaki,Potato Wedges,And Mixed veg with The biggest refillable glass of Soda all for 1500 yen …..Fantastico!
ahh yes patterns with strawberries were a big hit when me and emma made pancakes for my Family, mmmmm that cake picture is making me hungry 🙂
Ooh pancakes, that’s a good idea! I’ll have to try that one out.. Thanks Nath 🙂
Hey Dad, thanks for the comment, I’d love to go back to the Spiral Staircase.. Was it hard to get to? I can’t remember…
The blog is looking great! I’d swear some of those photos were professionally done.
And now I’m hungry..
Thanks Ghilaine :):)
Hi! is this similar to the dressing you made for the salad you brought today? I was trying to remember all the things you said were in it.. any chance you could post/email the recipe? I seriously loved it.
Love your cooking blog 🙂
Yeah similar dressing but slightly different. Exact recipe is here:
Salad dressing recipe:
1/2 a cup of white vinegar
1/2 a cup of white sugar
2 T of soy sauce
2 T sesame seed oil
1/2 cup of olive oil
Heat vinegar and white sugar together in a pan over low heat until the sugar dissolves. Allow to cool and add other ingredients. Before serving, shake well in a jar/sealed container to mix the oils and sauce together, serve.
And the salad I used was this:
Chang’s asian fried noodles
Ocean spray dried cranberries or ‘craisins’ as they like to call them
chopped nuts (cashews or walnuts)
3 shallots, chopped
Mix all ingredients together.
note: put the noodles and dressing into the salad right before serving as they go soggy quite quickly and you want to maintain that nice crunch from the noodles.
Hopefully will do a post about this one soon, just need to take a photo the next time i make it! 🙂
yay new post!!! i love mushrooms any way and this is great brekky food. Sometimes I’ll just fold the ommelette in half and cook a little more, but still leave it soft in the middle – yummy!
Hope you’ve recovered from the food poisoning. Totally sucks!
Had rice puddinng last night at Banks Thai in Newtown and it was quite diff from what I’ve had before. It was a square block with a thin layer of black rice pudding at the bottom and then rest was white rice. They garnished it with custard and choc sauce. A nice change to the usual mix.
I’m on your blog!!! *does a little squeel and dance* and these new batches look exactly like they do at Mrs Fields. Loving the tip for freezing cookie dough too.
Hehe. Thanks Niwa 🙂
Hmm.. chocolate sauce. That sounds pretty good. I’ve tried chocolate Le Rice before – it was quite rich and custardy – pretttty tasty, but I still can’t go past plain vanilla 🙂
I exist !!! yay new gadget!
Hehe, thanks Nath! 🙂
Happy Birthday my little cooking child!!
And welcome to the Real World ….Full time work ….
I love gingerbread too. If you’re worried about raw egg white, you can buy royal icing powder 🙂
That’s a great idea, I will have to try it. Thanks Lorraine 🙂
Very impressive, Christine ! I envy you !
Wish I could bake.
You will have a good giggle at my next blog post…
Heheh thank you Grace. Seriously though this cake was soo-crazy easy.. you just cut it out to a template (which is as easy as tracing a picture through paper lol), cover it with icing and then throw decorations on it..
Speaking of which! I know the boys’ birthdays are in January. Which day was it again? (Sorry I forgot) But I am planning to make something.. Did you have any requests either? (What kind of stuff are the boys loving right now?) 😀
mmmm Looks Delicious!!! French toast and blueberry ice cream awesome combo!
Thanks Nath! Hope you and Em had an awesome honeymoon!! Looking forward to catching up sometime soon with you guys 🙂
Gorgeous presentation ! Love the Japanese ceramic bowl 🙂
Thank you Grace! 🙂 I have a bunch of them and i love em! use them for everything 🙂
I like how you’ve made the crunch factor for this and you’ve reminded me that I’ve gone for practically the whole Summer without taking out my ice cream maker!
I think i’ve been using my ice cream maker a little *too* much.. it’s certainly contributed (and not in the good way!) to my battle against the scales.. haha
I remember seeing this cake and being so wowed by the ruffle detail! Looks great!
Thanks Lorraine.. It was soo much easier than I thought it would be! Next time I want to try a couple tiers or a taller cake.. and maybe some cachous and a paler pink frosting.. oh how i love girly cakes!
Oh and happy 1st anniversary!
Very cute-the heart feathering effect is very pretty!
Thanks! I just looove feathering royal icing. So easy and looks fun with bright colours 🙂 By the way I took your tip and used royal icing powder this time round, works great! 🙂
awww love the mini hearts! so creative 😉
Hehe thank you 🙂 i loove anything heart shaped (and i’m gathering an army of heart-shaped kitchen utensils.. lol)
Thank you for making it !!! 🙂
It was the best 1st birthday cake that my future surfer boys could ever wish for xxx
No problem Grace, I had a fun time making it! Glad you guys liked it 🙂
Aww that is so cute! well done and I love the use of Tiny Teddys!
Thanks Lorraine! I was a bit inspired by some of bakerella’s cupcakes here..
so cute! 🙂
gorgeous cake, love the creativity and love you have put on the cake….Tiny Teddy Rules!
Thank you cuisinera! it was a lot easier than making small figurines out of fondant.. my moulding skills leave a lot to be desired at the moment haha
That is one of my favourite icings too-it’s so smooth and moreish! 😀
I know, I’m addicted! I love how simple it is to make as well 🙂
What a great idea this cake!
Thank you ShopCookMake! 🙂
Love the review and the pics! On our company night out we were tossing between meant & Wine co. or Etch.. I personally love to go to Etch because I am big fan of Justin North. But to satisfy the “qauntity” meat lover…was end up at meat and wine. The creme brulee here seems different as it is not in a reminkin but like a piece of cake but which prove it is not soggy and unset. The price of $110 for 5 course is also pretty reasonable priced.
Thanks for the La Grillade
recommendation…that will be on the list next !
Thank you for your lovely comment Wendy 🙂 Definitely try Etch out! I am excited because I’m going to visit Becasse with a friend in March. Etch is pretty good as well because the a la carte is also very reasonably priced for such nice place.
Yeah it was quite unusual having the creme brulee out of the ramekin but it worked surprisingly well.. I have no idea how they managed to get it on the plate like that though.. – creme brulee custard is so delicate..
Hope you enjoy La Grillade! I am just dying to go back!!
Haha i love it how you bury the little bear under the sands..
Hehe thanks 🙂 I wanted to come up with a bunch of easy things to do that didn’t require too much extra work! 😛 i guess that’s the lazy decorator coming out in me haha
I agree, Etch is so pretty isn’t it! Really lovely and feminine and a great choice for Valentines day 🙂
It was! I loved it 🙂 What did you get up to on Valentine’s day, Lorraine? 🙂
Looks like you had a wonderful evening; I loved Etch – beautiful food and a gorgeous restaurant.
Enjoy Becasse! I went there 2 weeks ago for the degustation and it was just amazing.
Thank you Chanel! I was considering getting the a la carte @ Becasse but I’m such a sucker for degustation… haha…
That looks SO good. I love my ice-cream maker, I’ll have to give this recipe a go 🙂
Thanks Chanel 😀 It was sooo easy! The only thing with this recipe is that it gets quite hard in the freezer, so I recommend zapping it in the microwave for about 10-20 seconds to make scooping it out a lot easier 🙂
We have a very boring Valentines Day 😛 We stay at home and I made a few things for Mr NQN that I thought he would like! 😛
still sounds lovely 🙂
I love Etch! What a lovely Valentines Day you had 🙂
Thanks Jenius 🙂
What cute patterns and I like how each one is uniquely different! 🙂
Thanks Lorraine! I think i’ve become addicted to cookie decorating ever since you gave me that tip about the royal icing powder hehe! 🙂
The one with Mike’s name on it…too cute !!!
Thanks Grace 🙂 xx
These cookies are adorable! I love all the different designs you did.
Thank you Sheena! 🙂
Everything looks great!
Thank you Katie! 🙂
Ooh I love that swan! What a clever way to present pavlova and a nice way to remember Anna Pavlova too!
I know! It was so pretty! I loved it.. Oh yeah, Swan Lake! Hahaha.. that went completely over my head lol..
oh yum i think duck and orange goes so well together espcially if meat falling off the bone yummy
They certainly do! I love any meat falling off the bone… especially lamb 🙂
Love the pics !
Next time you go to Japan, you’ll have to go to Aomori prefecture. Land of the Fuji apple…delicious !!! It might just revert you back 🙂
There is apple picking in JAPAN!? That sounds too good to be true ! I’d love to visit one day… Thanks for the tip!
It was a lovely day, thanks Katie 🙂
I loved apple picking there too! In fact any sort of fruit picking is so much fun and you really can’t get any fresher! 😀
So cool you went there as well! I would looove to go berry picking 🙂
Love it! A day trip here is so my type of weekend! Thanks for the tip off! 😉
No probs Jenius 🙂 It was an awesome day!
Everything looks so good!
It was wonderrrful 🙂 Thanks 🙂
Hehe we went here over the holidays too! It’s such a serene place and I liked the scones too!
I am suuuch a sucker for scones.. I saw some on Joy the Baker (chocolate, orange and buttermilk) that i can’t stop thinking about! haha. so cool you’ve been too! it was such a random place for us to visit hehe
Thanks for the link to my blog! Thanks also for linking to your finished cake. I think it looks great and I hope you had a lot of fun!
Thank you Frazi! I still think yours is better 😉 I did have lots of fun making it though, thanks for the inspiration!!
well eveyone is invited to the engagement party to celebrate!!!!!!!!!well done
from proud mum
Haha thanks Mum 🙂 <3
Congratulations! That is such a beautiful story, and what a gorgeous ring! Enjoy this exciting time 😀
Thank you Chanel!! I will be definitely checking out your wedding blog for tips !!
Christine, what wonderful news! Congratulations! A beautiful story and a beautiful ring too! 🙂
Thanks Lorraine! Eeeeee I’m sooo excited!! 🙂
Aw thanks Katie 🙂
Soooo romantic! Mike has really outdone himself this time. Beauiful ring on a gorgeous bride to be! 😀
So glad I got to see the beautiful sparkler and the equally beautiful and happy girl in the real life yesterday 🙂
A big congratulations to the two of you ! What exciting times ahead !!! xxx
Haha…love it ! Brownies = engagement 🙂
Will have to try these out as my oven challenge 🙂
Definitely try these Grace! So little preparation needed and such taasty results :D.. seriously not good for the waist tho 😛 hehe
Good luck with you pre wedding preparations Christine! I’m sure that you will look amazing! 😀
Awww thanks Lorraine! I sure hope so!! 🙂
Sinful and wicked!! Love it.
Thanks Ellie! PS: looove your blog!!
That looks delicious!
Great idea reserving the extra one for a sandwich! Hehe can you tell I’m going through a cool weather toasted sandwich phase? 😛
Oh man I LOVE going through the toasted sandwich stage.. But I do think it goes in stages! You have like a month where you eat nothing but toasted sandwiches and then you forget the sandwich press for ages. Then you rediscover it, months later and it begins all again.. haha. my favorite part is the melted cheese 😀
I agree, these are a great dessert to have when watching calorie intake. They’re great even with a dollop of Greek yogurt too and feel almost indulgent! 🙂
i agree! i used to really hate greek yoghurt, but i’m coming around.. especially with this vanilla bean black swan version – i’m addicted! have you tried it before? soo good. i’ve also been using this in smoothies with frozen cherries, banana, yoghurt and milk.. love the little hint of cinnamon 🙂 is there really anything better than cinnamon and vanilla? *sigh*
Yum ! For me, apples and cinnamon brings in that feeling of autumn…
P.S I’ve included you in my blog roll.
Hope you don’t mind 🙂
Hehe I thought of you and the boys when I typed ‘baby food’.. although they’re technically toddlers now!
Of course I don’t mind! Yay free advertising! I will add you to mine (when I figure out *how* to do it.. haha..) time for a visit to my software engineer 😛
ooh cant wait to hear about your dessert table!!
hehe thanks chocolatesuze! i am supppeer excited about it! 😀
Love the apple & cinnamon combo. Gorgeous looking stew.
Thank you Ellie! Can’t go wrong with anything apple-cinnamon.. That’s my motto 🙂
That sounds so good!
Thanks Katie! It is soo easy and so yum 🙂 I love making easy healthy treats like this 🙂
Wow… congratulation Christine. Happy for both of you
Thank you Linda! 🙂
Great job Christine… I love them too, not just because I had a truck load of egg whites 🙂 Hey, did you find that you can’t put too much of icing on the piping bag at once, otherwise they melt because of the heat of your hand? I tried to put just enough of them, or otherwise the last remained icing will be slightly runny and turned darker as well?
Yeah I have found that they melt quite quickly.. Plus if it stays in the fridge too long it gets very hard so needs to be room temperature. I’ve also found when you serve it on the cake when its cold, it tastes not very nice – just like cold butter.. but at room temperature its SO much nicer! I do also find that it changes colour sometimes.. Often when I colour it after it has just been made, it will not take the colour at all but a couple of hours later, it is much darker? I don’t know why it does that? 🙁 Although one time I made SMBC (plain not coloured) and left it in the fridge, then used it later and the colour bound to it beautifully straight away. It seems like it needs a ‘resting’ time..?
Apples & cinnamon – the perfect combination on a cool, autumn afternoon! Btw, just read your comment in the blog too… thanks so much! Oh and we’re similar in so many ways now more than ever too as I just got recently engaged so uhm yes a few of my regular browsing sites now includes wedding sites. Eep! HEHE!
Haha thanks Trisha!
Congrats on your engagement!! We’re blog twins!! hehe..
Ive never made cous cous myself. This might be a good recipe to try! 🙂
Oh definitely! This is the first cous cous recipe I ever tried as well (and the only one come to think of it lol). So definitely beginner friendly 🙂
Hehe well you would definitely be forgiven because planning a wedding is exciting stuff! I do love couscous cooked with extra flavours like this and currants are such a nice addition to give it a sweet pop 🙂
Hehe thanks Lorraine. Yeah sometimes I go a teensy bit overboard cos I love them! 🙂
Couscous is one of my favorites and this looks fabulous. Nice pictorial
Thank you Maris! 🙂
I love cous cous! I’m a bit wary of currants in it though, but I’ll give it a go 😀
Yeah give it a try! I’ve made this for a couple of friends who are sworn enemies with currants but they surprisingly liked it 🙂 They’re not *too* noticeable and I love the little bit of sweetness it gives. But you can definitely add as little / as much as you like 🙂
This was a lot of deliciousness in one post! I like going to friends regular haunts because they always know what is good. Also I’m going to try caramelized onion and goats cheese together now! I have both in the fridge! 🙂
Yeah – it’s a good way to get new favourites 🙂 If you ever visit Tamagawa’s, my recommendation is the Curry Udon! It is amaaazing. I will never get sick of it..
Yay! They are sooo good together. I’ve also tried sticking them on a slice of pastry and then baking it – goats cheese + caramelised onion tart = sooo good.
I have heaps of pics like this too! I actually did a similar type post a little while back, it nice actually reflecting on some of the dishes 🙂
Well u already know that i’m another cous cous convert thanks to this recipe. It’s just a perfect combo of the most unlikely ingredients!!
Glad to hear 😉 xx
I think you are right. It is quite hard to mix the colour straight away without resting time. It is just like mixing oil and water. I wanna try the one with strawberry puree to top the strawberry cupcakes… 🙂
Lovely to learn a bit more about you 🙂
By the way, there’s a great Filipino restaurant at Lidcombe next to the train station called Sizzling Fillo
Aww thanks Jenius! I should mention that ever since I came across your blog, the word ‘genius’ is starting to look misspelled to me now.. Haha..
Oooh thank you for the recommendation!!! There are seriously almost no Filipino restaurants in Sydney and it’s totally bumming me out. I’m so pumped to try this one!!
Thanks for the shoutout Christine 🙂 And your god daughter is an absolutely gorgeous, stylish little girl! 😀
no probs! it is very well deserved! 😉
thank you! i absolutely love dressing her up, she looks fab in everything!
Never. Ever. Play for the crowd. Play from your heart, feel the music and the crowd will hear your heart!
good advice but i was never really that passionate about it! sadly.. i found it a bit too scary for me!.. i got pretty petrified of making mistakes and it was like a nightmare when they actually happened. i’m glad that pressure is gone..
You’re welcome! 😀
I love pearl milk tea, though I recently discovered how many calories are in it – devastated! 😉
Those photos of your god-daughter are gorgeous!
I know, the cals in pearl milk tea is quite deceptive, sadly.. haha. I stopped having it so frequently after I heard about it. Although I’ve heard of this new one called Chatime that is supposed to be really good, so I’d really like to try it..
mmm i love creme eggs! happy easter christine!
Thanks chocolatesuze! Hope you had a great Easter 🙂
Sounds like you have a fun Easter weekend planned! I’m so excited about these 5 days, it’s like Christmas already! 😀 Happy Easter!
Wow, hope you haven’t crumpled into a bakers heap under a pile of flour! Sounds exhausting, best of luck! I didn’t eat any cadbury creme eggs this year, I can’t believe it.
Thank you for giving me the award Christine, so pleased. So I don’t have to follow the rules? Can I posted on my blog? 🙂
Hi Linda! You sure can post it on your blog 🙂 Nope don’t have to follow the rules! 🙂 enjoy!
[…] I received an email from one of my loyal commentator on my blog saying that she have given me the award and that I don’t have to follow the rules. I absolutely honored to receive this award knowing that some people actually enjoys my blog. Having this award passed to me really made my day. Thank you Christine You can read her post about it here. […]
[…] Bakerella’s deadly cookie-brownie slice […]
I am secret guest from party… must say that those biscuits with the C&M on them were the highlight of the table. Whoever did the piping on them must be the most amazing person alive.
I would say that they are! 😉
that dessert table looks gorgeous! i love the teal. Looks like everyone was well fed 🙂
Thanks Muppy! Yep, we had plenty of food leftover as well keke..
nawww love the dessert table! teal is a beautiful colour
thanks Chocolatesuze! I’m thinking about doing a lolly table for the reception.. i was inspired by yours! 🙂
Well done! And you did all of that while you were sick with the flu? :O Bravo!
hehe thank you! my desire for the dessert table beat the symptoms for the day i’d say.. hehe
Congrats on the engagement 🙂 Dessert tables are so awesome! I’ve never tempted to do one yet. Teal is a beautiful colour and your dessert table looks good.
Thanks! I was really lucky to have a bunch of friends help me with it!
Everything looks gorgeous!
This is so adorable, dessert tables are the best! Congrats 🙂 I have a serious thing for teal, everything looks delicious! Also been dying to try PW’s sheet cake, it looks luscious.
aww, thank you Steph! 🙂 ps: definitely try PW’s sheet cake,… it is my most fave cake recipe! i use it all the time!
[…] Minute Frosting ; you can find Martha’s version here (I basically used the same recipe for Swiss Meringue Buttercream frosting minus the […]
Hmmm give me anything with lemon curd and I’m all yours! 😀
Hehe yeah I am also a tiny bit crazy for lemon curd… so addictive! 🙂
Mmmmm lemon curd & meringue! These looks gorgeous 😀
Christine, i have never met you or Dyan but this post just brought me to tears. My thoughts and love to you.
Thanks chocolatesuze 🙂 hope you have a lovely birthday xxx
Hey Christine, you are an awesome friend and I am certain that Dy believed this. You too are an amazing woman. Love you heaps. P
Thanks Patty xx
Christine I’ve been trying to find the right words, but there are none. I just wanted to say how sad I am for your loss, and how moved I felt reading this post. Thinking of you…
thank you so much Chanel xx
Christine, my sincere condolences to you and Dyans friends and family. It’s clear that she meant so much to to you and that she was a very special person. May she rest in peace.
Thanks Lorraine, yeah she was a very special person. Thanks for your condolences.
[…] it again! also soo easy. i also added some frozen cherries to the mousse. piped the ruffles with swiss meringue buttercream. Grated dark chocolate and tried to make a heart shape using a heart shaped cutout of baking paper […]
Wow that looks Delicious 🙂
thanks Nath! kudos on the quickest reply i’ve ever seen, hehe. hope you and Em are well 🙂
Wow impressive! U are so talent I can’t imagine myself making something like this. I especially love the ruffle buttercream make the cake so pretty like a wedding dress!
Thanks Wendy 🙂 If you like cake decorating, I say give it a try! Honestly the first time I looked at a ruffle cake I thought it would be really fiddly and difficult, but it is honestly one of the easiest decorating tricks I have ever learnt.. If you want to try it, watch this vid! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHYX0qXDVy0
It taught me everything I need to know about ruffle cakes! 🙂
Gorgeous! I’ve been in love with the ruffle cake decoration, this makes me want to try it myself! Haha don’t worry I’ve forgotten to add baking powder to my cakes before. I even forgot to add eggs once, that was a disaster!
nawww beautiful ruffles!
Welcome back, Christine !
The cake looks yum…wish I had been around to have some 🙂
Such pretty piping! Nice work. And I love the sound of the chocolate mousse stuffed in there – would have liked to see an inside pic 😉
Thanks Christie! Yeah, I took it to church and it got nommed pretty quickly, and also because the cake was so dense, a lot of the mousse squished its way out so the pics I took didn’t look the greatest, hehe.
I love your ruffle cakes Christine, they are absolutely gorgeous! 😀
Thanks Lorraine 🙂 xx
This looks amazing. I would have been to busy eating buttercream instead of making it pretty.
Hehe thanks Natayla. There’s always a necessary amount of ‘taste testing’ that of course goes on before the decorating.. haha.
Christine, I’m so so sorry to hear about this. I only met Dyan a few times, but like you said she was certainly a memorable girl. My thoughts are with you and the others who must also be devastated by this loss. x
Thanks heaps Cazzy. Hope u and your mum are well. xoxoxoxox
love love LOVE this recipe. This is fast becoming a staple of my diet 🙂
hehe good to hear feedback xooxo love ya!
Mmm pure Winter comfort food! Plus I have read that it’s good in the slow cooker too! 🙂
ooh that’s a good idea! i’m dying to get a slow cooker… soo perfect for winter!
this is my childhood dish that my mum still cooks me when i go home! i like the sound of your sides, might have to send my mum to this post, hehe, i wonder if she would be offended!?
haha awesome! i kinda threw it together randomly but it seems like a good combo 🙂 hehe
Yum I love corned beef! We had it for dinner last night 🙂
hehe thanks Chanel! Its super good for leftover sangers 😀
I love corned beef too but I prefer those out of a can where I can sear it with some diced onions, fresh red chillies and white pepper then make sandwiches with. yum!
oh yeah, canned corned beef is the bomb. in the Philippines, my relatives make this delicious corned beef hash with tomatoes, garlic and diced potato on rice. ohmygoodness it is soo good but insanely calorific (like most Fillo foods it seems, haha)
That looks awesome ! I love, love LOVE corned beef. Will have to try. And yeah, you should definitely get a slow cooker…they are the bomb ~
Thanks Mama Grace!! Yeah should put one on the wedding rego 😉 hehe xoxo
It looks like you had a great meal and no shame in mopping up sauce with bread. If I were a chef I’d be very happy to see that! You both look so nicely dressed up in the picture too 🙂
Hehe thanks Lorraine 🙂 Ok good! I now vow to mop tasty sauces shamelessly!! 😀
Wow, the food looks incredible, a perfect evening out 🙂
Christine, this looks absolutely delightful! I love those ruffles – I wish I was patient (and talented) enough to create those on my cakes 🙂
Thank you Kate 🙂
For the record, when I got home on Monday evening there were zero left.
Haha dang! This was actually from two weekends’ ago.. But I did sent Mike back with another batch last weekend.. Did you get any of either of those batches? Will have to bring over more next time! 😉
mmm looks really tasty! good photography aswell 🙂
Thanks Nath! 🙂
They look perfect! A great vanilla cupcake recipe is a must have 🙂 Haha I always accidently melt my butter when I try to soften it in the microwave, it’s so annoying!
Thanks Steph 🙂 Yeah.. I made the mistake of accidentally melting my butter when trying to make a batch of garlic butter the other week.. Naturally I went with the panicky “ITS STILL GOOD” philosophy and now I have separated garlic butter in the fridge.. haha. Still .. sorta works!
Christine, your cupcakes look gorgeous. Plenty of strawberries at the moment. I love to get my hands on some to decorate my cupcakes too.
Thanks Ellie! Yeah I am loooving the strawberries at the moment.. love to decorate everything with them! 🙂
It has been so long since I dined at Bilson’s, like 5 years ago for Dad’s 45th Birthday! I agree, the sauces are truly delicious 🙂
sounds like a great place for a birthday dinner! 🙂 thanks Vivian 🙂
truly a strawberry is the most beautiful of toppings 🙂
Oooooh wow ! Fancy Shmancy ! Love the dress too 🙂
haha thanks Grace!! its my one fancy schmancy dress… bought it for a wedding ages ago and have pretty much nowhere to wear it now lol!
Nom nom ! Are these the same cupcakes you made for church last week ? They were delish !
Beautiful photos !
They certainly are! Haha. I’ve been on a super cupcake bake a thon lately (not on purpose either.) haha. i realised that i’ve baked cupcakes every week for like a whole month now.. lol.. thnx!
Great job Christine! Love the simple beauty of a strawberry topped cupcake 😀
aw thanks Lorraine 🙂 hehe
Omg Bilson’s! I’m so eager to try out their degustation menu. Also- the sourdough, butter and salt at ‘fancy’ restaurants = <3. I could eat it all day long!
Hahah ditto about the sourdough, salt and butter, heheh. I’m pretty keen to go back as well!!
Thanks for sharing your holiday experience and what a great cooking class you have attended.
Thank you Ellie! xox 🙂
this looks AMAZING, i would love to do it!
hehe it was a great experience muppy! and so awesomely cheap!!
I loved Phuket too! So much to see and do there. I love those Thai cooking classes, it looks like you picked a great one. Nice pics of you too! 🙂
Hello Christine! Got linked to you via Mama Grace of http://www.mamagrace.com. I don’t er can’t cook but I sure know how to appreciate good food. These food are mouth-watering yummy.
Thanks Ava! 🙂
You’re right, this dish always comes with pork which my in laws don’t eat and it’s a surprise because it’s not mentioned on the menu. This is a delicious version Christine! 😀
Aw thanks Lorraine 🙂 I do love my snake beans !
i really like your food pictures and want to invite you to try out tastingspot.com. it’s for anyone that just wants another place to submit photos and share it will other foodies. It’s still in beta version, but would love for you to start adding some photos and help get it going.
Thanks Foodie, will definitely look into it! 🙂
hehe the choc chip cookies look perfect you could totally have lied 😛
hehe thanks Suze.. deceptive cookies lol!
I love your cake decorations! I have no clue when it comes to food styling… I like your attempt! 😀
hehe aw thanks Chanel 🙂
i LOVE the last cake- it looks so good! 🙂
And I was going to say that your choc chip cookies look so good….until I read what you wrote haha!
Hehe thanks Von.. 🙂
I’m absolutely fascinated by that carving! I tried doing it once. Let’s just say I ended up with a really dodgy looking carrot! 😛
hehe yeah he does at least one for each person having dinner at the restaurant i think.. we seem to get at least one every time we go!
We have a couple of favourite chinese restaurants- for different occasions of course!!! haha 😀 Peking Style Beef Strips is one of my favourite dishes- and this one looks amazing!!
LOVE the carrot carving 😉 I’ve always wanted to learn how to crave carrots like that….
i’d love to learn how to carve it as well but i get the feeling it take a looong time!
I love the nemo carved out of carrot! Nothing better than a family meal at the local Chinese – does make me think of ‘Porpoise Spit’ though in Muriel’s Wedding!
love the decorating skills!
thank you Betty! 🙂
I always order the beef strips everytime I eat Chinese! That cute little carrot carving is so adorable… and such skills!
Oh….Christine !!! Those photos are divine ! You make me soooo hungry !!! We have discovered a new Chinese Restaurant near our place (the other one is too over priced and not the best of quality)…Hopefully this new one will become our fave…
thanks Grace! 🙂
ooh hope this one turns out well!! i love having a great go to restaurant nearby… hoping mike and i will find one by the time we move into our new place!
This looks really good!!! Can’t wait to try it!!! Also love the pictures that go along with each write up!!!
thanks Kate 🙂
Deep fried ice cream, yum! Every year when I was little we would go to the best local chinese restaurant for my birthday. To this day I still believe they have the best chinese 🙂
classic aussie chinese, yum!
It looks so good, I love the steam coming of the Mongolian Lamb, I felt like I could lean into the computer and take a big smell of the dish 🙂 That is hubbies favourite dish.
My favourite Chinese restaurant recently closed after about 40 years of service 🙁
Great story, I would love to try the Peking Beef strips, they look delicious, the tofu dish looked interesting too!
Thank you Julie, definitely try the Peking beef strips!
Your cake decorating looks great, can’t wait to see your post on the class.
Thanks Muppy 🙂
keen to try this next time I am in the area =)! Those beef strips look very good!
definitely try them, they are my absolutely fave!
i always have to try the deep fried ice cream if i see it on a Chinese menu 🙂
i loove me some deep fried ice cream.. and always with caramel sauce 🙂
[…] It was my first food bloggers event so I was rather excited to go along! A week ahead, I baked and froze a batch of my favourite brownies to take […]
was fab to finally meet you in person! your brownies were deeelicious!
aww thank you! same to you Suze:)
Bummer! I didn’t get to try your brownies & didn’t get the chance to meet you. It was an amazing picnic!
Bummer! I didn’t get to try your brownies and didn’t get the chance to neet you. The picnic was amazing! Nice photos too!
Thanks Raff! Maybe next time 🙂
Thanks for coming along to the picnic. It was great to meet you and chat! Missed out on your brownies. Argh. Look forward to seeing you at the next meet up 🙂

It was great meeting you! Great post & nice pics 🙂 And I just realised we’re using the same WordPress theme… oops 🙂
Thanks Gaby, you too! Hehe yay for wordpress! 🙂
Shame I didn’t get a chance to meet you, nor try your brownies (was trying not to overdo the sweets for once!), but those lovely raspberry marshmallows were from Jacq of “Penguin says Feed Me!”
Next time Rita! 🙂 Yeah I had a bit of a sweets overload on that day, whoops hehe.
Thanks for the info!! Glad to know who made those lovely marshmallows 🙂
[…] Christine’s post with heaps of food close-up and blogger photos (and info on who made what, thanks Christine!). […]
aaw didn’t get to try your brownies but they look good!

Looks like you guys had so great food and good fun! Nice of Suze and Helen to organise such a good event and I wished I could have made it, would have been wonderful to meet you!
thanks Chopinand! you’ll have to make the next one!! 🙂 x
Your brownies were so addictive! Brownie + cookie = the stuff female fantasies are made of 😀
It was awesome meeting and chatting with you! Thanks for the photos 🙂
Aww thanks Lucy! Lovely to meet you as well 🙂
Fantastic 🙂 with all the food and getting to meet everyone!
Thanks Daisy! It was a lovely day 🙂
nice photos and shame I didn’t get to meet you but thought i’d elave a comment as your blog is the first one i’ve seen that has a photo of my spam musubi! lol. awesome.
Haha Henry I think that’s because it went so unbelievably fast! I practically had to fight someone off for a piece hahaha. Glad to know who brought them!
Great post Christine 🙂 hope we can catch up before next years picnic!
Thanks Muppy. Sounds like a great idea!
great coverage on the picnic and lovely to meet you! (i yoinked your photo!) 😛
Thanks Betty, lovely to meet you too!
Hey christine! It was nice meeting you and thanks so much for liking my lemon bars too hehe
love your photos and hope to catch up soon in the next foodie gathering!
My pleasure, thanks Wendy! 🙂
Hi, just a point, Vegans dont eat Honey, so the recipe is not Vegan
All fruit and vegetables would have to be excluded then as bees play a BIG part in the pollination process of almost every fruit, vegetable and nut, so there goes that idea!
Actually, we choose not to eat honey because of the appalling conditions under honey is industrially manufactured–they kill the hives (hundreds of thousands of them) annually, just before winter, and in fact due to their inhumane cultivation of honey the world is now suffering a bee shortage crisis. So perhaps before you make a snide remark about someone’s lifestyle choice you should get your facts straight.
Hi! This recipe looks lovely!! But, am I missing the step when the onions are added?? I don’t see it!! -j
Thanks Jessica. I have added the step with the onions, thank you for pointing it out 🙂
It looks like lots of fun. Sad that I was away for this weekend! The food selection was, as expected, fantastic!
Yum. You can’t have sausages without caramelised onion. And welcome back! 🙂
Oh my, Christine ! These look soooo yum ! I’m always stuck on ideas to make sausages a little more interesting…Thanks for this !
How are you, anyway ??? I miss you ! x
I’m good thanks Grace! Hope you, hubby and the twinlets are good 🙂 Miss u too! Glad u like the recipe 🙂
[…] I especially love French toast with fresh blueberries and maple syrup. I had them here with blueberries I picked myself with some friends in Bilpin. They also go really well with these honey garlic glazed sausages. […]
Seriously I LOVE French toast, my hubby would occasionally cook it for me pre-kids, I think I need to do some hinting…
Good idea! 🙂
Yum yum I love French toast for a weekend breakfast. The blueberry ice cream looks so pretty too!
Thank you Helen! 🙂
Blueberries and maple syrup, never tried it but sounds great! Your blueberry ice cream looks amazing, I’ll have to give it a go this weekend with some french toast! 🙂
I’ve never thought of cooking sausages in the oven, but it’s a great idea to get more flavour into them. I’m a huge lover of garlic so these sound divine!
[…]Crispy Moroccan Chicken | Cooking Crusade[…]…
Looks delicious and I am definately going to try the recipe. Thank you :)!
wow imma try it for my foods sba nxt week .hopp it taste how it looks looollllllllllllll
any body has tasted it yet………trisha……………..christine………katie
I have cooked many macaroni cheese recipes and tasted Heston’s. It was very good. Adding chopped onion and experimenting on different types of cheese can make a big difference to the flavour. Always one of my favourite dishes over the years. Thanks Christine!
I hv tried this recipe and it went yummylicious.
Thanks Beenish! Glad it worked well for you x
I’ve always thought that Pimms and lemonade is a great drink for ladies that lunch! 😀
Yes, it seems like a very refreshing choice 🙂 x
Just discovered your blog and after reading post this my tummy is rumbling! [can you hear it? Is v loud!] Will have to check this place out soonish!
Hehe thank you!
The hubby loves choc mint – think I have a perfect bday cake recipe for him 🙂
I love choc-mint as well! Hope you enjoy this cake 🙂 x
Hubba hubba – that cake looks fab!
Thanks The Hungry Mum! It’s an old favorite of mine 🙂
Salt and pepper squid AND pimms and lemonade, two of my favourites and a must-have for any ladies lunch.
Great photos x
Thanks Steph! It was definitely a great spread for a ladies afternoon!
I would love to do this one day. Your photos are great, can almost smell the flavours.
It was a very fun class – and really quite inexpensive! Definitely worthwhile when on a trip to Thailand 🙂
Oh, yum, yum, Christine!!! Will have to try this one ! 🙂 x
This looks delicious but healthy too and I love the nutty flavour and texture of brown rice 😀
Thanks Lorraine! I’ve been trying to up my healthy recipes lately .. hehe x
So very gorgeous.
Thanks the Hungry Mum! x
What a great mid-week meal. I’m a big fan of brown rice and I have a recipe for chicken balls too. And of course, mushrooms and brown rice go so well together xx
Superrrr jealous!! Really want to try the chips and the lamb broth, nom nom nom
I was tempted to try making the chips myself but got turned off at all the effort Heston puts into making them.. this was lots easier hehe. And a total bargain for only £4.50! That’s like less than $10AUD… Man I wish they had them here lol
you lucky duck! everything looks and sounds amazing and how sweet of that couple to share their dessert with you!
Thanks Suze! Yeah they were a very lovely couple – they made for excellent company while I was dining alone hehe
What an amazing dinner you had. I think we are all filled with green envy 😉 I’m suprised also at how affordable it all is, especially with all of Heston’s tricks under his belt.
I was definitely surprised myself! It definitely helped me out because I was trying not to blow my budget before the Italy shopping hehe
What a beautiful looking restaurant! I am so glad you ordered the triple chips – they would be the first thing I would order! They are just so famous 🙂
Me too.. I couldn’t resist after hearing so much about them!
What an amazing experience!
Thanks Gaby, it definitely was! x
That would totally be the first thing I’d do when I manage to visit London as well! Been a huge fan of Heston for a long time..and totally jealous of your meal right now!
Hehe its definitely worthwhile. I was so lucky to get a table as well.. I booked on the morning I visited!
You certainly made the most of your time in London. And it looks like you were there on a day when the sun was shining – what a rare thing. I love the look of the restaurant and making ice cream right there in front of you must be quite theatrical. What an amazing experience. Good on you for dining there on your own xx
What a wonderful experience! So how did you find the triple fried chips? I’ve had double fried but not triple fried yet 😀
Wow, this must have been an awesome experience. I love the ice cream shot! It looks amazing and so inviting!
It was lovely, thank you Asmita!
What an incredible meal. It all looks so enticing but I especially love the ice creams made at the table. Gorgeous photos, too!
Thanks Christina! It was great to see the ice cream made straight at the table!
Holy moly heston really is amazing. Your meal looks incredible! I want to try everything, particularly the ice creams. I also love your pics, they’re so clear and well composed.
He is sooo amazing! Thanks Katie! 🙂
awesome! how lucky are you 🙂
Super lucky, thanks muppy! x
Wow, what an amazing meal! I love that ice cream presentation 😀 I’m dying to go here one day!
It was wonderful, thanks! Definitely worth a trip!
Was nice to meet you again in person! Very stomach filling and fun night that sure was.
You too Shan Shan! 🙂 I am soo dying to go back. The food there was epic!
What great value that feed was. Sadly I’m not the biggest fan of brazillian bbq, but to meet and greet new people, I wouldn’t have missed it either 🙂
Definitely value for money! It was lovely to get the chance to meet up with some other fantastic Sydney bloggers 🙂
mmm love churrasco all that meat mmm
It was certainly the best meatfest I’ve been to in awhile! lol
Churrasco is always painfully fun! lol. My favourite is definitely the picanha or rump cap – super tender and tasty!
Haha painfully fun, I love that expression!!! Couldn’t have put it any better! Describes Churrasco perfectly lol
I never think of making French toast but I will make it next Saturday morning – by hook or by crook! This looks delish.
Thank you! I love how easy it is and I almost always have all the ingredients on hand – stale bread, milk, eggs, cinnamon, maple syrup and butter, yay 🙂
I was just about to leave a comment about how much hubby would adore this but ummm, I already did [goldfish memory!].
Just, WOW! They look amazing.
Thank you! I just love lemon curd tarts 😀
That sure does look like a lot of food. I’ve been to one of these restaurants before and they’re a lot of fun. Best enjoyed with a group xx
Definitely a great group activity 🙂 And it really was a LOT of food.. too much for me to handle everything unfortunately! But still good!
The lunch menu looks so cheap for 32 pounds…and I wouldn’t be able to go past those triple cooked chips…and the ice-cream! FUN (so nice your neighbours let you have a little try).
I know! I can’t get over how cheap that lunch menu is. So great. The chips and ice cream were definitely a highlight of the meal and I was very lucky to be seated to such nice people 🙂
You know, I’ve had some really good churrasco and some really bad churrasco. I think this falls into the former category! 🙂
Definitely for me! Bad churrasco is such a disappointment… it should always be faaantastic!
so gorgeous 🙂
aw, thank you 🙂 x
This looks delicious! Is it wrong I can’t help but think a shot of vodka would complete it? Haha. I have a few healthy friends who rave about coconut water, I must give it a go (sans-vodka of course)
I didn’t even think of that – this would probably work well as a cocktail as well, great idea! Thanks Swah! x
Such a lovely combo! Anything with lychee gets my vote, but combined with the coconut water it’s so fresh instead of creamy. Delicious.
Thanks Christie! x
$44 seems like great value. I have not had a churrasco for a long time, last one being at Wildfire which is a little more pricey but bloody awesome. The variety is so good that I find it hard to even go for seconds if I spread it out thin to try most things. I would want to go for a good work out and run, starve for a good part of the day before turning up for dinner 🙂
Oh yes great value for money considering the quality and quantity of food you get! I think its worthwhile paying a bit more for good churrasco – in previous experience its totally worth it! But yeah a workout would probably be highly recommended for this one, haha.
This place is amazing. Currently fantacizing about the banana!
Thanks Katarina – I’m still fantasizing about that banana hahahah. Soo good!
That’s a beautiful looking frappe. I love the colour of it. I keep being told how good coconut water is for you. I should buy some and make something like this xx
Thanks Charlie x
Oh man, the sound of this sounds absolutely amazing. I WANT I WANT I WANTTT!!
Hehe thanks so much Tina! x
Not a huge fan of lychee but I’m sold with the strawberry & coconut water.
Hmm I think you could definitely omit the lychees if you wanted to give this one a try. Thanks for dropping by Gaby! x
The combo of coconut & lychee is awesome. But with strawberry sounds perfectly awesomely refreshing!
I just love fruity flavours 😀 Thanks Raff!
Fresh coconut water from a good young coconut is still the best for me (though hard to come by here), but this frappe looks super refreshing! Lovely flavours.
Thank you! Yeah – can’t beat fresh coconut water!
Gorgeous photos Christine! Very crisp and clear!
Thanks so much Lorraine – coming from you, that’s a big compliment!
Mmm yummo! Must give that one a go… might give it a twist of Limey goodness too! (If you don’t mind ;)) Thanks for sharing!
P.S. Absolutely LOVE your restaurant reviews! Living vicariously through your experiences! Thank you!!!! 🙂
Thank you so much Allysia – and thanks for reading! Lime is a perfect idea, can’t believe I didn’t think of that one, that would go so well I think! xox
Mmm this looks amazing and I bet it tastes just as delicious!!! I love your measuring cups too!!
Thank you! They were a much loved birthday gift hehe.
Wow that is a smorgasbord of food! Fantastic value, if we’re ever feeling like pigging out on meat now we know where to head to 😀
Definitely a pig out session! Thanks for dropping by! 🙂 x
This looks so refreshing and yum!
Thanks Asmita! 🙂
LOVE this, and LOVE C Coconut Water!
Thanks so much Carmen! x
[…] Check out this delicious & healthy frappe recipe using C Coconut Water, strawberry and lychee on Cooking Crusade! […]
Everything looks amazing. Hope I get a chance to visit one day.
Definitely worth a visit! Thanks so much for dropping by Lemonpi! x
i don’t really like that coconut water, but maybe your version would be better!
Might be worth a try – its balanced out by the fruit in it I think.. thanks Muppy 🙂 x
oh Yum! That is really refreshing. perfect for warm weather
Thanks Jeroxie! I’m loving this warm weather at the moment – bring it on!! hehe
WOW that’s definitely a feast 🙂 Everything looks so amazing especially the CHURROS hahaha sorry I always look and focus on desserts first 😛
Hahah just like me! You know I was so surprised at the high quality of the desserts they served there – you would think that a place specializing in such a meatfest wouldn’t do such great desserts but they do!
Wow the food looks delectable! And your pictures make the whole ensemble come to life!!!
Why thank you icakepops! Thanks so much for dropping by! x
I love lychees and strawberries, so this would taste so good.
They’re two of my favorite fruits as well! Thanks Tania! x
Looks so refreshing 😀 perfect for summer
Gosh I can’t wait for summer…. getting so close now! Thanks Julie! x
I love spring as well, love the combo, sounds so fresh and perfect for spring afternoons
Thanks Sylvia! x
How amazing are your photos?! Just gorge x
Aw, thank you so much! that’s very kind of you to say 🙂 x
This looks nice and refreshing.
Thanks you – and thanks for dropping by!
This is perfect for my annual ‘Freak out it’s Spring Diet’. Looks very healthy. I have a nasty habit of buying a half coconut and eating away at it for hours!
Gosh I just love fresh coconut as well! Hope its a handy recipe for you! Thanks so much for dropping by 🙂 x
This sound so refreshing! and healthy too! (: Love lychees! hehe Will be perfect for summer!
Thanks Lianne – and thanks for dropping by 🙂 x
You’re absolutely right – this is so perfect for summer! Anything with lychees and strawberries would be heaven!
Thanks Trisha! And thanks so much for dropping by 🙂 x
I’m so glad that you enjoyed it there Christine! We loved the food and that beef rib was so, so amazing! David is also really lovely, he had no idea that we were writing a review when we visited and we had superb service from beginning to end and that drool worthy food 🙂
Oh its such a lovely restaurant – felt super lucky to be invited for a visit! Definitely need to visit again soon! Thanks Lorraine 🙂 x
OMG wow! Now I have to go.
The photos you have taken are absolutely amazing. Everything looks so gorgeous. I did a couple of draw drops too!
For that price, I need to check it out too!
Oh thanks so much Priscilla 🙂
Its definitely worth going – and such a fantastic price! I love finding hidden gems like this one 🙂
Those ribs look to die for!!
They absolutely were!! Thanks for dropping by! x
I really shouldn’t have read this on an empty stomach! It’s made me so hungry!!
Great post though, I’ll definitely be trying this restaurant very very soon!
Haha I know the feeling. I’m always looking at food blogs while hungry – big mistake 😛
Thanks Katarina! Hope you enjoy it as much as we did! 🙂 x
I love a good degustation indeed! It cuts down all the ordering angst when there are just too many yummy menu items that I simply must try! That rib does look yummy, and how funny about the chicken breast- although I only like the thigh myself too 🙂
So true. So many times I’m stuck with indecision wanting to eat *everything* heheh. The degustation menu definitely helps out!! 😀
Food looks spectacular! Other than the sticky date pudding, I’d say it’s pretty fancy.
Yeah it was soo lovely Gaby! Definitely a fancy night out 🙂
You can really see that they care for the customers, even down to the portion control because there’s nothing worse than feeling so full that you cannot enjoy a delicious, quality meal. It looks delish and love the ode to the Japanese garden!
Absolutely Trisha! Couldn’t agree with you more 🙂 Thanks so much for dropping by! x
The food looks amazing. Seven Lanterns looks like it would be a great place to eat.
Absolutely was! Thanks for dropping by x
Definitely a great place for dinner and it’s so affordable for a 7 course degustation 🙂 Seems like you had a great night hehe how much I wish we had a place like Seven Lanterns in Melbourne!
We did, thanks Daisy! Maybe you could come visit on a trip one time hehe 😀
OMG Beef Rib and that chocolate mousse and I’m done. I’m with you, beef rib rocks.
Beef rib in anything rocks! Just has such an amazing flavour 🙂 Thanks so much for dropping by Adrian!
What beautiful looking food and I love the fresh flowers in the bathroom – great touch! And I don’t think there’s anything peasant looking about that peasant chicken! xx
Hahah you’re right – its definitely has got a rather modern spin on it 😛
Wonderful .. Yumo thanks so much perfect
Thanks Cynthia 🙂
What a fantastic walkway- sets a good first impression. I am drooling over the beef tataki
Yeah absolutely! The tataki was looovely. Thanks for dropping by! x
The food really does look lovely! I would love to visit there some time, if I’m in the country. 😉
Thanks for a great review and I read Lorraine’s review a few months back too. This place seems to be doing things right and I can imagine how deliciously tender and yielding those beef ribs are!
Hi Chopinand – thank you! So right – they were sooo perfect. Gotta love beef ribs!
mmm i could definitely go for a scone or two right about now
Mmm I keep forgetting how awesome they are and easy to bake. Need more scones in my life!
Oh my word! That looks ah-mazing! Definitely a favourite past time!
Thanks Allysia! I love that you don’t have to go aaalll the way to the city to enjoy high tea now as well hehe
Looks just lovely! And nice to hear they have a GF version too.
Absolutely – especially if you have a few GF gfs (haha) to bring along! 🙂
What a gorgeous place… I love high tea. I often hold a tea party at my place for all the girls:)
Me too! What a lovely idea, I would love to host my own high tea one of these days!
The food does look good although I’m with you, the setting is also very important 😀
Yes I just love places like the Victoria Room and the QVB Tea Rooms. Soo opulent and gorgeous!
I love that they have Coronation chicken sandwiches! This looks yummy indeed, I do love a good high tea- I was a bit worried about the wedges until you said you ordered then separately though 🙂
Yeah they’re not exactly the norm for high tea heheh. The Coronation chicken sandwiches were indeed pretty awesome! Thanks so much for dropping by! x
Wow… those lemon curd tartlets look incredible! And Coronation chicken is one of my favourite sandwich fillings!
They were one of my first picks too hehe. I just love a good lemon meringue tart! Thanks for dropping by SarahKate! x
I love free parking too. This high tea does look good but yes, when I have a high tea I like it to be in a traditional and gorgeous setting xx
Yeah definitely 🙂 and free parking is amaazing. SOoo hard to find good parking in the city where most of the other high tea places are 🙁
The food looks gorgeous! The sandwiches and the little tarts look so yummy!
Everything was very cute! Thanks for dropping by Asmita! x
I always drive past the Sir Stamford – who knew that they hosted such a cute high tea! Great find 🙂
Me too! Its pretty close to my work and very handy 🙂 Thanks! x
All of those delicious desserts look so tempting! I love the chocate cup with strawberries and cream!
It was definitely one of my faves of the day. And so pretty with the piped cream and berry on top 🙂 Thanks for dropping by! x
These all look so delicious, what a beautiful spread for a High Tea. I want to try the chocolate gateau a personal favourite
It was definitely a good selection of treats! Thanks for dropping by Lizzie 🙂 x
I love love love love LOVE high tea lol i had to repeat LOVE 5 times to emphasize it 🙂 The high tea here looks amazing and that lemon meringue tart sure is CUTIE ~
Hehehe. Me too! I’m still preetty new to it but I think I’m becoming an addict 😀
I have a soft spot for finger sandwiches made with white bread, especially the boiled egg sandwiches which are so easy to gobble like 20 in about 5 minutes! I heard the Stamford Grand would be pulled down soon to make way for high rise apartments in that area though.
Me too! I can do the same hehe. Oh I didn’t know that about the Stamford Grand, that’s a shame!
looks like an absolute feast — I’m full already.
it surely was! thanks so much for dropping by Simon 🙂 x
I *love* high tea. These photos are wonderful and make me want to go, like, now!
Me too! Such girly fun 😀
Oh my goodness what a selection! Can you believe the average high tea in Brisbane is about $49!!!
Ugh really?! That is soooo pricey 🙁 I’ve been finding that the price of high tea has been going up quite a lot lately and as much as I like it, it doesn’t seem all that pricey to put together some tea and cakes right? $30 I reckon is quite reasonable 🙂
the Atlantic Salmon Roll looks so good! so much creamy cheese sauce .. mmm
it was my favorite! and that sauce.. mmm so good!
yay another high tea place to go to 😀
heheh defs check it out if you can! x
Girl, you got me hooked on this! I love choco. I love banana. and peanut butter…I’m sold! (Ugh ok, I’ve been staring at your lovely picture for too long. I think I better make one for breakfast tomorrow).
Heheh sounds like a plan Linda! 😉
That’s great. What a good snack. We often have banana sandwiches here with honey but you’ve taken this snack to a whole new level with the chocolate. Don’t chocolate and bananas go so well together! xx
Oh yum I love banana and honey as well! Chocolate and banana are an awesome combo…So many things go well with bananas! Thanks for dropping by Charlie!
Mmmmm Yummo!! Love the addition of the pretty plate. Always makes any scrummy indulgence so much more “refined”! 🙂
Hahaha I like to think so 😀 Thanks Allysia x
Oh my, that looks delicious!! 😀
Hehe thanks Tara! x
Yum!! I’m so going through a banana and peanut butter phase at the moment! 😀
Heheh meeee too. I especially love banana & peanut butter in smoothies… Addictive!
Peanut butter, chocolate and bananas are my favorite combination! Sometimes, I just eat sliced bananas with some peanut butter as a dessert. Adding chocolate to it is taking it to a whole new level.
This. This is why I must move to London. Love your blog!
Hehe thanks for the lovely comment Erika, but its actually in Sydney! thanks for dropping by 🙂 x
i have to confess banana on toast is my fave, i have not taken it to this level though.
I do love banana on toast as well. Such a great simple combination!
This is definitely a sneaky treat! Looks scrumptious.
Hehe thanks for dropping by Lizzie!
I don’t think I’d hate getting up so much if this were waiting for me 😉
Yes this definitely cures the morning-itis for me 😀 Hehe thanks for dropping by! x
hi i like to try this…but here in UAE we have a humid temperature outside.if ever im going to make this frosting and decorate it in my choco roll (top with frosting) will it melt while on my way to party even i am inside the car only? coz i really want to try this..thanks..
Hey Allain thanks so much for dropping by my blog.
Depends on the temperature in the car. It is quite a stable buttercream but as it is butter based it does need to be kept in cool conditions. I would say that if your car has air conditioning it should be fine, but it can’t be left outside in high temperatures for too long. Hope this helps!
I wantedto try this SMBC, I hope this work well in tropical contry. Thanks for your inspirational blog!!! God bless…
OMG this looks so good! Beautiful photography 🙂
Thanks Kristi 😀 Thanks for dropping by! x
I’d settle for one of those mouth watering toasts right now please.. 😉
Heheh thanks Simone 😀
Oh yum! I like to indulge in the occasional peanut butter, banana and honey variation from time to time, but I think I might have to substitute the honey for chocolate now! 🙂
I love that combo as well but this certainly satisfies chocolate cravings 😀 Thanks for dropping by Erika!
Now that is the breakfast for winners, forget weetbix 😉
Choc Chip Uru
I like the way you think CCU! Thanks for dropping by! x
Oh yes please. I LOVE the look of this!
Hehe thank you Christina! x
I read recently that banana and chocolate go really well together. I don’t have a sweet tooth so I’m just a little nervous about the combo.
Oh they are! You have to try bananas dipped in chocolate as well. So good! Hope it meets your expectations 😉
I used to eat banana and peanut butter on toast all the time as a kid. Never had it with chocolate though, but my culinary imagination is saying to me already = this is a winning combo!! @frombecca x
Hehe thanks Becca! And thanks for stopping by 😀
I love Sorrento. I’ve only been once, but I definitely want to get back there. Such a pretty part of the world. Sounds like you had a fabulous dinner! Thanks for discussing it, and the hotel – sounds like a place we should consider next time we’re there!
I totally agree! I think Sorrento was one of my favorite places of my Italy trip.. and would also love to return 🙂 Definitely have a look at the Grand Hotel Angiolieri if you’re back in that spot – its fantastic value. Also has awesome tripadvisor reviews which convinced us too! Thanks for dropping by John! 🙂
I wish I could visit my friend, this is a perfect choice 😀
The food looks absolutely classy and I love the beautiful presentation 🙂
Thanks CCU 🙂 It certainly is a wonderful spot to visit! x
Wow, you lucky girls! Obviously I can’t comment on the food but agree with you, beautiful presentation of everything (including the butter!)
We were very lucky girls, heheh. Definitely glad that we decided to splurge!
Italy is so amazing isn’t it? And I loved how you could see the dishes bathed in that glorious, golden Mediterranean sun 😀 Love your dress btw!
Italy IS amazing! Such a gorgeous place to visit, I really fell in love with it 🙂 That dress was another shopping splurge on that trip, thanks Lorraine hehe x
OMG, you had me at whipped butter! Amazing food under an amazing sunset – bliss.
Hahahah whipped butter makes everything better 😀 Thanks for stopping by Adrian 🙂
Wow, such stunning presentation! I’m taking my first trip to Italy next year so I may need to pick your brain for tips!
Absolutely!!! I’d love to give you tips. I had the best time ever! Gosh I love planning trips, they’re so exciting aren’t they! You’ll just love it there!
What an amazing meal, and what a view! I am going to Italy next year and cannot wait!
Oh wonderful!! I’d love to revisit again one day – there are sooo many places I missed and we spent a full two weeks exploring it. I’m sure you’ll have the best time and I would highly recommend Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. Just stunning!
I love admiring how pretty food is too! I love the desserts, and I might have done the same by ordering a third dessert! That chocolate selection just looks stunning. I’ve never been to Italy before, but this place looks like it’s worth going to!
Its pretty much one of the reasons I’m obsessed with Pinterest… Pretty food. Haha. I’d never been to Europe before so Italy was my first time and I absolutely loved it. We only had two weeks there and I wish we had more :(:(
Wow, look at those dishes! As boring as it sounds, I’m actually loving the breadbasket…I’m such a carb-lover that I’m almost drooling just by looking at the photo. And how cute are those paper coverings on the chicken?
The view’s to die for as well…did you get any good photos of the sunset? I imagine it was stunning.
Actually the breadbasket was probably one of the most interesting ones I’ve ever had! It was massive haha. And I loved that they had such a big selection to choose from for just two people.. Haha and yes I loved those paper coverings on the chicken teehee so adorable..
Unfortunately didn’t get that many great sunset pics here (mainly because I was too busy stuffing my face haha) but I did enjoy it 🙂 It was beautiful!
The food and views are absolutely gorgeous here! I’ll be sure to hit up Sorrento if I ever go to Italy.
Oh yes definitely visit! Its also quite close to Pompeii which is handy for ancient history buffs/nerds (like myself hehe) and the Isle of Capri where you can take some pretty cool boat tours. Thanks for dropping by x
That was a gorgeous post–I was drooling over practically everything! I’m sad that I somehow came and went from Italy without finding that amazing looking place!
Aww, thank you Erika 🙂 There’s always next time..! I’m betting there were so many amazing places I missed out on our trip and I can’t wait to go back one day and find them all! Oh travelling, so little time, so many places!! hehe
Gorgeous view! What a lovely presentation, even the bread look so lovely. You just gave me an idea for 2013 vacation, lol.
Thanks Linda! Hahah glad I can help 😉 If you need any hotel recs, hit me up! We found heaps of great places that were well situated, good value and quite nice 🙂
Your photos are breathtaking! I want to go there!! And the food…oh my!
Aww, thanks so much Kristi that’s so kind of you 🙂 The food in Italy certainly is something else! I got seriously addicted to buffalo mozzarella over there (the taste AND the price. haha. itss soo expensive in Sydney ='() x
That just looks amazing. What a stunning part of the world and not only great food and scenery but so much history too. The dining area on the terrace is simply stunning. Very envious here! xx
Thanks Charlie it was lovely! Perhaps this is a good time to plan an Italian getaway? 😉
This really is the best breakfast or morning snack 🙂 But because I’m not a fan of peanut butter I would substitute it with LOTS of nutella instead ~ i think nutella and banana are so amazing together!
Ahhh excellent idea Daisy! Can’t go wrong with Nutella, yummm!
Oh wow 🙂 you went to Italy!!! I’m so jealous hehe I’ve never had the chance to visit ~ But would LOVE TO! Just imagining about all the gelato makes me smile!
I can easily see why this was one of the most memorable meals in Italy for you! Everything looks so amazing and beautifully plated 🙂 NOMZ
That shot of the chocolate molten cake is DEFINITELY foodporn that is XXX rated 😛
Oh yes, we ate…a LOT of gelato. Haha. And pastries. And pizza and pasta and cheese! Well worth a trip there methinks!
Hahah I thought so heehee..great minds think alike 😉 xx
WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! The view and the food is mind blowing. I would love to have been you when you were there!!!!
Thanks Tina hehe xx
This is all so beautiful, I’m nearly crying over here!!!! I find food to be pretty too (so no worries there). And BOY is it stunning…I mean, even the butter is picture-worthy! Thank you so much for sharing this with us…what a great mini-“vacation” from my laptop =)
Aww my pleasure, so glad you enjoyed it xoxo
Oh my word!! On the bucket list for sure!! 😉 Thanks for sharing!
My pleasure Allysia, thanks for reading!! xx
What an amazing meal! Especially those desserts, they look amazing, almost like works of art. And it’s not weird you find food pretty. I do too 😀
Hehe glad I’m not alone! I know!! Those chefs are seriously artists, I don’t think I could ever reproduce something of similar calibre in my kitchen no way Jose! Thanks for dropping by Jennifer 🙂 x
The cookie brownies look yum!!! And congrats on your engagement! Your god daughter is gorgeous!!
Aww thank you. They’re one of my fave things to bake hehehe. She is beautiful isn’t she? She only gets more pretty every year 🙂
I have never been to Italy and it’s one place I would love to go because it has such a rich heritage and food culture. Beautiful photos and you look awesome too!
It really does, Australia does not compare.. It was so amazing to just walk around in side streets and realise that all the architecture is just 100s of years old… We really have nothing like that here and I loved experiencing the history in that unique way.
Thanks Chopinand 😀
Wow Christine, what an amazing experience! That butter looks fantastic, as does that chocolate pudding – delicious! I love the seagull too 😀
You look gorgeous too, I love your dress 🙂
Aww thanks so much Chanel! I certainly felt very spoiled eating there hehe
Love the presentation of the breads. Like a staircase to heaven. lol
Hahaha definitely Helen I love your description of it that way hehe 😀
awesome! that smile did say it all 🙂
Haha the amuse bouche was bigger than the shared entree!
Hahah I know right? Loves it!
Your view is gorgeous! & all the food looks amazingggg! great presentation!
Yeah I think I’d be hard pressed finding something to beat it hehe. I was very impressed with the chef’s artistic presentation as well! I need them to give me a few lessons LOL
Wow, it all looks so incredible – am v envious! That chocolate plate – swooooon. What a memorable meal!
Definitely a once in a life time meal! x
The view is breathtaking. I would def not be lying if I said I was not jealous AT ALL. Looking stunning in the last pic babe!
Aww, thank you so much Shanshan xx
I have a baking phobia because I always think I might over or under bake cookies etc. This might just be a recipe simple enough for me to handle.
This recipe is definitely worth trying I reckon! And the good news is that if you do somehow manage to wreck them (although I doubt that’s possible!) the recipe is SO easy to whip up another batch to try again. And with ingredients so cheap, there’s nothing stopping you! 😉 Give them a try, I have faith in your baking abilities 😀
This is genius! I’ve never made scones and I love how easy this sounds. It sounds foolproof 😉
Definitely a foolproof recipe. Hehe thanks Tara! x
I love lemonade scones, and they really are foolproof, and so SO good! I’d love for you to submit them to the High Tea blog hop I’m hosting as they fit the theme perfectly!
Oh great idea Jennifer! I’d love to submit them! x
unbelievable as to how easy this is! i want this for breakfast this weekend 😛
Hahah I will admit to occasionally having these for breakfast.. Well they have to be eaten right? 😀
Oh Christine, you do know how to make me salivate! (charming I know lol!) have had this recipe before and it was delightful, however I have also tried my hand at the same recipe and they turned out like rock cakes. Hmmm… maybe it’s time to put that disaster behind me and give it a whirl again. I didn’t knead the mix when I tried it, but used a flat edged knife like my grandmother taught me, so maybe that is where I went wrong… we will see!!
Ah yes I too have known the pain of baking mishaps! Maybe time to get back on the horse and give it another go! I love that this recipe is very cheap to put together too, so you can always give a couple of tries if need be 🙂 Hmm I sometimes use a butter knife, but also a wooden spoon works pretty well for me too 🙂 Good luck Allysia! xx
Awesome! Last week I had a desire to bake lemonade scones (never tried them before), so thank you! 😀
Can you use pure cream, or must it be thickened cream?
I guess I read your mind? 😉 Hehe. Pure cream would be totally fine! In fact its probably better than thickened cream but I usually buy the thickened stuff cos its usually a tad cheaper 🙂
Wow, lemonade scones? That’s not something I’ve tried before but it sounds interesting. What effect does the lemonade actually have?
It adds sweetness to the scone dough and I think it also has some kind of reaction with the cream/flour to help it rise..although I’m not very scientific myself so i’ll call it… ‘baking magic’ lol
Lemonade scones are the best! I actually did a bit of an experiment at the start of the year using other kinds of fizzy drinks, instead of lemonade, you may find it amusing. I tried creaming soda, ginger beer and apple cider as well as the staple lemonade http://bellyrumbles.com/2012/01/creaming-soda-scone-anyone/
If you are in the mood to, go the experiment route, was a lot of fun 🙂
Oh what an awesome idea Sara!! Thanks for linking me the post, I shall definitely give it a try!!
The first scones I ever made after moving to Australia were lemonade scones. I thought I was very clever. 🙂
It’s definitely a clever recipe I think 😀 Thanks for dropping by Maureen! x
It’s such a great shortcut! And there’s no need to buy scones when they’re this easy. A friend told me that she had seen Fanta scones once :O
Yeah I agree! Fanta scones, I wonder if those would taste orangey..hmm. Sara from Belly Rumbles was saying she made creaming soda ones which is pretty cool too!
Now that is result! I love this recipe 😀
Hehe thanks CCU x
I…still can’t believe it only uses 3 ingredients. AMAZING! I know scones is one of kinds hard to bake, but yours looks so awesome. Will definitely try it out. Yum!!!
Me either! Its such an easy recipe as well – foolproof so anyone can make them, even kids would whip a couple out I reckon! Hehe thanks x
OMG i had to reread the title of this post twice before it sunk in 🙂 WOW! Scones with only 3 ingredients? And I have them all at home? I can whip up scones in a couple of minutes? YES PLEASE!
Thank for sharing can’t wait to try it out soon 🙂
Glad to help 😀 Hope you enjoy these Daisy!! x
For three ingredients, these look perfect… Yum. Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure, thanks for reading Tania! x
Um….these are brilliant. Like Albert Einstein level. Who would’ve though you could make something so soft and puffy that serves as the BEST vehicle for add ons with such little to begin with? Book marking to make VERY soon!!!
Hahahah I like to think so too 😀 Hope you like them! Thanks xx
Hi Christine, these scones look so good with the jam and cream on top, I’m craving one right now. Will definitely have to try this recipe soon. Catherine 🙂
Hope you enjoy it, thanks so much for dropping by Catherine! 🙂
Add dried mango or dates chopped finely. You can also replace the cream with coconut cream. Tastes amazement!!
Fantastic idea Nat! I will definitely try this, thank you!! xx
I’ve have changed the cream for coconut cream as my husband is vegan. First attempt at making scones & I’m worried I’ll offer bake them and they’ll be like rock cakes .
It’s amazing to me that such delicious looking scones can be made with so few ingredients. I just love lemonade scones – they always turn out brilliantly xx
Me too! Thanks Charlie x
looking good! My scones could double as door stops, must practice more! Yours looks perfect x
Aww thank you 🙂 I find that hard to believe with all your cooking prowess on your blog!!
That looks amazing! Drooling :p
Aww thank you xoxo
I agree that scones are little more than an excuse to eat jam and cream! Nothing wrong with that in my book. 😉 Nice, easy recipe – really simple recipe, my favorite kind. Good stuff – thanks.
Hahah I’m glad 😀 x
Yep! This is the exact recipe my grandma taught me. It’s basically fool proof! My hubby asks me to make these at least once a month, but really it’s only a carriage for his jam and whipped cream obsession ;P
Heheh awesome! I love that its such a widespread recipe. May it live long on for many generations to come! 😀
I have heard about lemonade scones but I didn’t realise they are so easy to make!
Oh yes, definitely worth a try. Thanks for visiting Ai-Ling 🙂
Hi Christine! Nice to meet you! Just 3 ingredients to make scones? WOW!!! These don’t look like some recipe that is made easily! Looks wonderful!
Hi Nami, lovely to meet you too! Thanks for visiting my blog 🙂 And thanks for your lovely comment xoxo
Whoa… thank you for sharing the pictures of amazing dishes! I definitely remember this place and try it on my own when I get to visit. I love their sophisticated way of plating and all dishes look stunning!
My pleasure! Definitely worth a visit, or two or three hehe! I loved the plating so much too 🙂 Super pretty! xx
Awesome recipe!! I had no idea you could make scones with only 3 ingredients. Also love your idea for putting corn flour in the cream to stabilise it.
Awesome recipe Christine! Love the simplicity of the recipe yeilding such a fantastic result!
Thanks Anna! I love simple recipes too..especially finding good ones! Thanks so much for dropping by x
These look fantastic, I can’t believe you only need 3 ingredients!
Fantastic. I think the best scones involve the least number of ingredients 🙂
Looks fantastic! I’ve bookmarked these to try. Do you think this would work with soda water instead of lemonade?
Thank you 🙂 I think it would work with soda water but you might need to add some sugar to compensate for the sugar in the lemonade to sweeten the scone dough 🙂
I don’t need an excuse to eat jam and cream but these look like a pretty good reason!
only 3 ingredients?? thanks for posting! 😀
Phoaw what a stunning setting AND meal! Im going to have to scroll back up and do a double take on those lovely photos!
[…] depending on the day/time that you visit. My fave high tea place for parking will always be the Captain’s High Tea in North Ryde which boasts its own free carpark – can’t get better than that, […]
mmm love high tea! tho now i really want jelly
me too! i think i’ve developed a serious high tea addiction haha. i keep forgetting how much i love jelly until those random times of year when i have it and its like WHY DONT I MAKE YOU MORE lol
Mmm, looks delish! Not too far from me either.
Do you mind me asking how much the Groupon was? I find with Groupons that the offers tend to come around every two months or so – it might be worth me keeping an eye on it to see if it comes around again!
Oh great! I love finding high tea that’s a little closer to home than the city 🙂
Yes of course! The Groupon was $44 for two people ($22 each.) The link we used is here (http://www.groupon.com.au/deals/sydney/Boronia-Tea-Room/716260934)- which has a bit more information. There’s a pre-order button, which I haven’t used before but I guess you could potentially have a look around there? Definitely worth keeping an eye out for 🙂
This sure looks like the better high teas I’ve seen. Loving the look of those sandwiches, as opposed to your normal sandwich slices.
I’m ECSTATIC to hear that there’s such a variety of savory available at high tea…I’m so interested in those tiny, dainty bites (it makes me feel like I can eat a zillion and it’s ok because they’re miniature)!
Haha I feel the same way!! 😀
I was just about to say that the sandwiches look like Pacman! An interesting selection of desserts too, although I’m not sure how much ladylike composure you could maintain plucking that jelly off the plate. lol
Hahaha I will admit that it was a teensy bit difficult.. Putting it directly into my mouth is ladylike…right?
Hi Christine, what a divine house and high tea! I love your photos they are so clear and sharp. Next time I’m in Sydney I’ll have to spend some time in Mosman. Glad you enjoyed your high tea it’s a nice way to treat yourself.
Thanks Catherine 🙂
They look so wonderful! Smart ideas for opening the place to public so it keeps traffic coming. And of course, the rotating menus. Yum!
Wow, it looks great! And I had a secret thrill because I have those pink patterned plates-love them! 😀
Oh snap! Clearly you have great taste in plates 😉 I love it when that happens hehe
Such an extensive review my friend and with such delicious eats – you are so lucky 😀
That looks amazing. The savoury goodness is just my cup of tea. Perfect for the not so sweet tooth.
Oh, I love me a high tea! Can’t beat it for a girly day out. These photos make me want to race there, like, now x
I never knew they served high tea and but my weakness is always succumbing to the awesome $7.90 steaks at Hotel Mosman next door!!
Those steaks look amazing – I can see how you would find it hard to go past those!! Especially at that price!
I miss these lemonade scones. So easy and yet so delicious!
I love Boronia House. It’s so beautiful. Did you know there’s an identical house right next door? I believe two brothers built the two houses so they could live side by side. The other house is in a very bad way and the front yard has been sold off and turned into a car wash – such a crime. I’m so pleased Boronia House has been retained. It’s such a beautiful look into life in Australia from long ago. I haven’t been to a high tea but must get there! xx
Oh wow I had no idea – thanks for that Charlie! Very interesting story.. Ah yes I know the car wash you mean 🙁 How sad… Glad that they kept at least one of them though. x
Looks fab, Christine! Always looking for pretty places for high tea 🙂 x
the high tea looked just as pretty as the decor!
Wow what a stunning place to have high tea! The atmosphere really matters with high tea I think.
I LOLed at the pacman, so cute. 😛 Too bad the bread was dry or else it looks quite nice!
What a wonderful place to have tea – such a beautiful setting. And what about the tea itself, so many delights to chose from. A lovely write up!
Looks like a gorgeous array of fun foods! If only they had a vegan option 🙂
Seven Lanterns looks fab! Lucky you!
I like high tea, but my wife is in love with the concept! This sounds like a really good one, and the surroundings are wonderful. I’m jealous – I want to go! Thanks for the report.
What a fantastic high tea in such a gorgeous setting!! I love the sound of those mushrooms. You said they were stuffed with labne, what was the crumb topping, do you know?
Hi Jennifer, I’m so sorry – they told me what it was but for the life of me I couldn’t remember when I got home!!! Whoops!! x
More a savoury girl than a sweet girl, loving the savoury items they served up. The green apple jelly looked very cool.
What a wonderful place! Your pictures are really nice! Thanks for sharing
Oh I would LOVE to go here! Much more accessible than The Fat Duck I would imagine. That beef looks amazing and I am dying to try those chips one day…
Definitely more accessible than the Fat Duck! I’ve heard that place is booked solid for months and months (unsurprisingly) but also far more affordable (whoopee!) haha.
Those salmon tartlets look divine! High tea is not a regular occurrence with a toddler around right now, need to book in a girly day for sure! 🙂
This is so interesting! I’ll definitely be trying them…3 ingredients?! I’m so in!
I love high tea.your tips are very useful thanks nad thanks for share these lovely pics
I love drinking tea all day and I love high tea. The pacman sandwiches look delicious. I want to recreate something like that soon. chicken/walnut/apple sounds perfect match. YUM!
That high tea looked gorgeous! Such pretty photos!
Whattttt these sound so good!!! I just made oatmeal peanut butter chocolate chip scones last night and am totally on a scone kick. I will have to try these–thanks for an awesome recipe!!
Wow those sounds pretty amazing! Thanks for dropping by Erika 🙂
[…] cooking videos and was lucky enough to sample some at his restaurant in London at Dinner by Heston. The theory is, since the ice-cream freezes mega-quickly due to the super low temp of the nitrogen, […]
I hate scary dolls but their menu is always exciting!
Yeah absolutely! I heard they had a White Rabbit flavour for a Chinese festival. Would have loved to try that one!
You go to the coolest places, Christine! I love that you take us with you…it looks like here, you can have your gelato and entertainment, too!
Aww thank you heheh. I certainly think so too! 🙂 x
Hehee my kids will freak out but this place is cool!!! What a creative store and the dolls hanging from ceiling is pretty creepy. Flavor is pretty unique too. I’d love to go there to check it out!
Grrreat photos! I love the sound of the Black apple sorbet.
Very cool. Love the beaker full of “blood” 🙂
this place is always loads of fun! I wouldve ordered the chocolate grave, yum! you can never go wrong with choc! 😛
awww the mini ham and cheese crossiants really are adorable!!
Pretty impressive they got right into theme! These guys are on the ball with everything seasonal
Yeah I love that they do a bit of customising.. Mix it up a bit 😀
Hehe that looks like lots of fun! 😀
Hi Christine, this place looks insane (in a good way!) Love the way they’ve embraced Halloween & the ice cream looks pretty good too. Look forward to meeting you at Eat.Drink.Blog this weekend.
Thanks Catherine, same to you! 🙂
Extreme is right my friend, there is no doubt in my mind this is an insanely horrific but awesome gelatissimo 😀
Looks like so much fun!!
Thanks for sharing! Anywhere that has fresh flowers, white table cloths and scrumptious looking food ticks all the boxes for me! 😉
What a fun place!!! It definitely looks so much better than cold rock. I wish we had something like this here in Brisbane.
Amazing! I love how crazy they got for Halloween!
So great they got into the Halloween spirit. Wanting to try them out, just need to get there 🙂
I know that girl in the pictures! haha…
I reckon it would be awesome to work there 😉 How did the ice-cream compare to the one at Heston’s?
Heston has certainly been so innovative. To think you can go to a gelato bar and have your ice cream made on the spot. Looking forward to seeing you at Eat Drink Blog! xx
Love how they set things up to suit the theme for halloween. Those dolls do scare me.. haha I’ve still yet to make my way here.. seems like everyone already has!
Happy Halloween 🙂 I visited N2 too ~ and wow I didn’t know they went all out and decorated the whole store with scary dolls and fake blood hehe
Ohh what an elegant place to have high tea 🙂 I wished more places like these wedding-only venues would open to public and offer more high tea ~
Everything looks lovely especially the little jam jar i’m addicted to them lately haha
There was a Willy Wonker element to your second photograph until i noticed the blood dripping dolls hanging upside down! Great post. And interesting venue … thanks for sharing.
That looks so cool! Keen to check that place out
What a cool place! The creepy factor for Halloween is fun. I just love the concept of liquid nitrogen – I wonder where I can get some? 😉 What a swell new kitchen toy! Really entertaining post – thanks so much.
Thats fantastic that your god daughter was not scared by the brains and blood
Hi Christine, Great to meet you at Eat Drink Blog. Isn’t this a fabulous icecream shop! I first met the guys from here at Crave a few weeks ago, and was very inspired by their enthusiasm (not to mention their icecream!)
Great to meet you too Christine! So cool you got to meet them 🙂
What a fantastic place; I have to say I’d be a bit scared of the decorations!
N2 seems a little gimmicky and I’m not sure if I would be rushing to try one of their gelato but it’s good they get into the Halloween spirit.
Wow what awesome halloween decorations, although my kids aren’t as tough as your god daughter and would be terrified. An interesting concept for ice-cream…. wonder if it will be an idea that would spread around Aus?
I’m interested to know as well – I’ve seen lots of people interested in the idea but others think its a tad gimmicky. Who knows? Maybe it will be a long lasting idea or it could fade out after a few years due a drop in popularity..
We’re huge fans of N2 too! Love how they always get into theme for holidays (they had Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival themed icecreams too)
That is too cool. Love any excuse for them to mix up new flavours 😀
goodness me, very full on!
REALLY?! IS THAT IT?! Oh I am so doing this sometime this week! That’s incredible that it’s so easy.. I’m still in shock!
Yep, that’s it!! Super simple is my motto heehee. Hope you enjoy it Tina! xox
Wow what a great recipe Christine! Love this one for summer, my daughter is mango crazy. I love my food processor too, so handy.
Thanks Catherine!! I know I am food processor crazy right now. I will be so devs if anything ever happens to it hehe
Which food processor did you buy? I’ve been toying with the idea of buying one since watching Jamie’s 15 Minute Meals (he uses it for EVERYTHING, and it makes it look SO easy), but I’m on a budget and can’t really spend more than $200. The good ones all seem to be at least $500+!
Hey Amanda! I bought the Ninja Pulse – its an American brand that you can’t really buy in shops here, but I bought mine off the home shopping channel, haha. I’ve never bought anything off there before but did a bit of research online and it was reviewed really quite well so I decided to invest in one (the good food processors here DO seem really pricey!!) I paid $215 for the whole thing (including shipping) and it was buy one get one free (I gave the other one to my Mum lol.) I think that deal still applies atm as well. You get two magic bullet style mixers (half a litre each) and also a larger food processor bowl (1.5L). I probably sound like an ad but I actually really love it and definitely worth the money. Plus loads cheaper than most brands in stores! If you want more info or to buy one, the home shopping number I used is: 1800 335 335. Hope that helps! xo
Yay, thank you! I’ll give them a call this week. $215 for two machines sounds great!
This looks amazing!
Mango season, yay! Great recipe & awesome top photo.
Fresh and easy! I love the idea – definitely gonna try this one.
Ooh, now I can make my own Weis bars!
Definitely worth trying out 🙂 I am so freakishly addicted to Weis bars. Hehe
Oh my goodness this is so easy and so appropriate for summer! I think I’m going to have to try this out sometime 🙂 looks amazing and sounds delicious!
Thanks Kat, hope you enjoy it! x
That’s looks like a really simple and tasty recipe for my gelato maker which is still pristine in its box.
Worth bringing it out of its box perhaps? Hehe
I love the looks of your choco-mint cake, but I was trying to click on your apple cake. Both of the cakes link to the Choco-Mint one.
I found your blog through a link on Delicioux (was ther an e in there?)
Is this the one you’re after? http://cookingcrusade.com/2010/04/rustic-apple-cake/
Oh you clever fox, that looks divine! I must invest in a good food processor too
Very worthwhile! I’m so addicted to mine now hehe.
This looks like a perfect mango treat my friend, bring on summer 😀
Love how it glistens! The texture looks beautiful. Unfortunately I still don’t have a food processor.
Ah yes – perhaps it might go in a good blender if you have one? x
Did someone say Weiss bars!?? Yum!, great recipe.
Thanks Lizzy! x
Not everyone has an ice cream maker but still would like to make some sort of icy treat at home. This is a fantastic recipe, simple and easy.
Thanks Sara 🙂
Its wonderfully creamy 😀 I have some mango in the freezer thats reaching the end. Must freeze it and give this a go.
Definitely give it a try Nic! Thanks for stopping by x
Thanks for sharing this recipe. I had no idea you could make it in the food processor. I was thinking of getting an ice cream maker.
Going to experimenting with this really soon.
No worries. I also learned this myself this year! I also have an ice cream maker but I never drag it out and its so involved.. making the custard the night before, freezing the bowl, etc. It definitely produces great results but I enjoy a quick fix now and then too hehe. Thanks for dropping by! x
Mango Gelato is my favourite! Even mango by itself is enough to get me excited, love it when it’s icy 🙂
That’s one of the simplest gelato recipes I’ve come across! Cant wait to try it this summer!
Hi Christine, I adore mangoes – having grown up in North Queensland, they’re my favourite fruit! What a terrific, simple recipe.
Oh you lucky duck – I bet the mangoes are awesome there 🙂 Thanks Christine! x
I will forever associate you as my sweet gelato friend! and THIS is superb! Easy peasy and delicious? It’s almost alleviating some of the stress of the holidays! =)
Heheh thank you xox
I do the same thing only I add vanilla yoghurt as a sweetner and liquid. It’s SO good!
Fantastic idea Maureen! Will definitely give this a try… mmm mango froyo 😀
Yummm I love mangoes! Good to hear you bought a food processor – it’s my favourite appliance! You’ve reminded me to make a mango frozen yoghurt… 😀
I am going to get a box of mangoes and it is all thanks to you!
Hehe.. glad I could help? Haha. If you need help eating those mangoes… I’m here for you 😉
Wow, now that looks delish!
Mango is definitely my favourite Summer fruit! I can’t wait to give this a go as I also have a crush on my processor too!
Hey I had a craving for mango sorbet on the weekend and made some too, then Mike said you also made some. It MUST be mango season, yummo.
I’ll have to try your recipe some time.
what a wonderful high tea
What a clever and delicious idea! Oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! x
Thanks lovely! xoxo
Happy Birthday. These brownies look super good. I totally believe in being organised for Christmas – these are perfect too for the occasion.
Thanks Lizzie 🙂
Happy birthday! You seem to be well into the Xmas spirit already with these delicious looking brownies.
Thanks Chopinand. Any excuse to prolong the Christmas cheer hehehe 🙂
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! and your brownies look delicious! I love adding nuts to mine sometimes because it just gives them a little something extra 🙂
Thanks Kat!! I’d never added nuts before to brownies (silly me!!) but now I’m addicted! Sooo good!
What a great idea! And happy birthday fellow Scorpio 🙂
High five, fellow Scorpio!
Happy Birthday!! ( I miscounted it and I thought it’s on Thursday, lol). I always love flourless cake, and your recipe looks so amazing! So wonderful!!!
Thanks so much my dear xoxo
Happy Birthday! It’s my first time here and i’m already droooooling! These brownies look good but I scrolled down a little further and saw you made Mango Gelato. Mango is my weakness. I’m going to go read that post now. 😛
Oh thank you!! And thanks so much for dropping by 🙂 xoxo
These brownies look so pretty! And I praise your planning efforts! I haven’t made a single Thanksgiving dish yet this month, I will only start my Thanksgiving cooking this Thursday :), but you’re already baking for Christmas! Bravo!
Heheh thanks Julia! Ooh I’m so jealous of Thanksgiving – we don’t celebrate it in Australia but turkey, sweet potato and pumpkin pie sounds pretty amazing to me! Would love to do my own one day! I bet yours will be amazing!!
You are so lucky! Almond meal is about $10 or $15 here and so I have to grind my own. I LOVE these brownies (and super cute measuring cup girl!)
Yeah it’s quite pricey!! Grinding your own is a good option, I think! Thank you, they were a bday pressie from last year – get a lot of use out of them! 😀
Your brownies look absolutely delicious. I love all the suprises you’ve added into it as well. And happy birthday honey. Hope you had a fabulous birthday xo
Thanks so much Tina, I did! xoxo
these looks DIVINE. love the icing. will probably make them for christmas!
Thank you Meg, hope you enjoy them 🙂
Happy Birthday darling Christine!!! And yay for the full driver’s license too! 😀 x
Thank you Lorraine! Watch out Sydney roads hehehe x
Happy birthday and have a happy Thanksgiving!
Happy belated birthday Christine! Thanks for the recipe, sounds delish.
These look SO good 😀 My dad is a mega Christmas cake fan but me and my mum arent so he normally misses out. I’d def be up for making these as a win/win 🙂
Thanks Nic! They are definitely a good go-between between brownies and christmas cake methinks 🙂
I love the sound of these Christmas brownies! The cherries would go so well with the chocolate here … I will have to give this a try the next time I make brownies. And they look so elegant with the white fondant – a perfect idea for Christmas.
Thanks m’dear! The fondant was a last minute addition hehe.. I hoped it would make it just that little bit more Christmassy 😀
Happy birthday my friend, I am sure it was a fabulous one just looking at these gorgeous brownies – your photography is better than wow 😀
Great idea, I’m not a big fan of Christmas cake so this looks like it but tastes much better!!
Great piece! Loved reliving all that wonderful food through your fantastic photos.
Thanks so much Jeremy!
great photos. what camera and lens are you using these days?
Thanks so much Simon! Coming from you, that’s a huge compliment!! I shoot using a Canon EOS550D and my fave lens, the nifty fifty heehee. Such a great lens (although I must admit I often have to go far away for my shots because its so zoomed in LOL)
You take nice photos! and omg slow cooked beef & pork crackling in one dish! Yum?
Thanks Raff! Haha it has your name on it!!
Some great photos in there, you really captured the weekend!
Thank you Nic 🙂 x
yaaay, I look good with that red bowl full of salad in front of me 😉 and I really miss the chocolate fountains!
Heheh 🙂 Me too! Why aren’t there more of them in my everyday life haha
What a great post. I look at those photos and remember all the food and wonderful new friends and I’m swooning again.
Thanks Maureen x
So. Much. Food. Great pics, very colourful 🙂
Thanks Gaby! It was an insanely food filled weekend hehe
LOveeee your photos!! I also use a Canon 550D and used to use the 50mm a lot too. It’s too bad I missed out on the event. 🙁 The food looked delicious and so nice to get to meet Dianne Jacob! I totally love her book. 🙂
Love the nifty fifty! I considered upgrading for awhile but then Peter from Souvlaki from the Soul convinced me to just learn to use my lens properly before upgrading as it can be an expensive game to play.. hehe
Me too! Her book is so awesome and well written 🙂
Thanks for dropping by Jenny! x
Great wrap up of EDB Christine. Great photos!
Thanks so much Catherine! 🙂
Looks like you had a faaaaaaaaaaabulous time at EDB. Love your wrap up and photos at that. It almost made me feel as if I was there 😛
I certainly did! Thanks lovely! xox
awww too awesome! On my list to do thanks for sharing dearie <3
Glad you liked it, thanks Julie!
Looks like you had a great time there Christine! The food looks great and I have found a whole lot of new blogs to look up!
Definitely and me too hehe
Looks like a ball! Those dumplings made me droooooooooooooool x
